Curriculum
- Progress Reports
It is a
professional responsibility of the teacher to thoroughly assess,
evaluate and report student progress. Reporting pupil progress
to parents or guardians is both a formal and informal process
that is ongoing at JKCS. Progress reports are issued three times
per academic year, in December, March, and June. In the first
term, mark descriptors are included with report cards to help
parents and guardians better interpret student performance. Formal
Parent/Teacher conferences are scheduled in December and March.
Effective communication is encouraged throughout the year. The
Canadian Test of Basic Skills (CTBS) is administered every other
school year to ensure comprehensive teaching and implementation
of the curriculum. In addition, it provides and individual assessment
The Gates-MacGinitie standardized test is administered to grade
one students at the conclusion of their year.
