NEWSFLASH:

es lice_0911_480x3601Lice? My child? It could happen to anyone, so be prepared.

Here's some tidbits on how to spot it and STOP it!

What to look for:

  • itchiness and scratching
  • small white eggs (the size of the head of a pin) attached near the hair root AND/OR live lice (greyish black, like mini fruit flies)

What to do:

  • Drop everything! If lice is discovered at school, you will be contacted and asked to pick up your child(ren) immediately.
  • Apply special lice-killing shampoo (available at pharmacies)
  • Remove EVERY live lice (by squishing) or dead eggs with a special lice removal comb (available at pharmacies)
  • Wash and vacuum everything in your home that could harbour eggs or lice (blankets, bedding, clothing, car seats, carpets, etc.)
  • Confirm with the Wee Care Nurse (by appointment at (905)507-2273) that your child(ren) are lice-free. You must have an "all clear" note from this nurse before re-admittance to school. If you need help or advice, please contact the JKCS office at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it Mrs. Mrkobrada would be pleased to help you.

Another option is the Lice Squad who will come to your home and remove the lice for a fee. www.licesquad.com
