serve-him-hands1The Servant Team is getting ready for their Feb. event. On Feb. 25, we will be serving breakfast to Kerr Street clients. We typically feed 100 people and our school is in charge of collecting all the food. Then, the Servant Team arrives with the parents and we cook and serve it to everyone. It is an exciting morning for us as we serve them restaurant style. The menus are on the table and the students actually take their orders and then bring it to them minutes later. The clients are so appreciative and it gives us all joy to serve them. The parents do all the cooking in the kitchen. We all make a great team!!

We need the school to help provide the food.

There will be a table in the foyer for you to drop off the food until Feb. 23rd. We appreciate it so much.

JKCS would like to introduce you to the "World Education Games", organized by 3PLearning. This is the same organization that provided the Mathletics Competition in the fall. It is an online event where students in particular categories compete against other students across the globe in specific subject areas.

On March 6, 7 and 8, there will be an opportunity for students from ages 4-13 years old to participate in a three events, "World Spelling Day," World Maths Day" and World Science Day," respectively.

JKCS students are given the opportunity to register and participate in these games during class time. However, prior to their participation in these events, students are asked to start practicing online at a minimum of 10 hours at home. Students will log their hours on a log sheet, then give the sheet to Mrs. Schuurman.

If you are interested, please check the website at www.worldeducationgames.com for more information.

Here's what you need to do:

  • 1) Student or parent has to contact to Mrs. Schuurman ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it )
  • 2) Student attends an information meeting at school to receive a permission form and log sheet.
  • 3) Practice 10 hours at home before the first event.
  • 4) Fill out permission form and fill out log sheet. Hand these in to Mrs. Schuurman

Registration is done by the school. Cost is free.

thankyouWe wanted to say a HUGE thank you to both Martin Smit and Jim DeHoog for their hard work in installing 3 monitors in our lobby as the first phase in updating our lobby look! These two gentlemen give tirelessly of their free time to benefit our wonderful school, and we want to say publically how grateful we are to them for their all efforts over the years.

Martin also wanted us to mention that Kristen, an employee at Best Buy in Oakville was very generous to our school when we made some additional purchases for the lobby. If you happen to be shopping there, please mention your thanks to a staff member or management for their support.

Our lobby is slowly taking shape. The monitors on the wall will display our current school life - which has so much packed into it, it needs to be presented on an ever-changing set of monitors! Look for some frames to appear on our history wall next!

busJust a heads up on a smalll change to our Parent Interview Day on March 7th. In order to give our teachers enough time to prepare for interviews, school and buses will be dismissed at 12:00 NOON (not the usual 12:30pm).

This means buses will arrive home 3 1/2 hours earlier than normal and parents should be at school at noon to drive children home.

Interviews will run from 1:30 - 9:00pm and once again, we'll be signing up for interview timeslots on line. The link for that website will be published in an upcoming newsletter.

bumperkids1Last Wednesday at our Spirit day assembly, we shared the details of this fun event with our students. They are excited to get the ball rolling! Our students will help raise funds for their school by collecting pledges and earning great incentives.

Friday February 3rd each student received a fundraising package to take home. Each package includes four weeks of pledge forms and lots of information regarding our incentives and activities for the next four weeks.

Please be sure to check your child's back pack to find out how your child can earn a free dress day, Wii bowling play time and class incentives.
