Star of the Week Round 2
: Each of the students will have another opportunity to be the star of the week again. A new letter explaining what has to be prepared at home will come home at the beginning of the month your child will be the start.
Good Behavior Game
: I have introduced the class to a new game. Many of the students are struggling to follow our class rules of "We share, we care & we cooperate." To help instill these rules we are now playing a game with them. The students have been divided into 3 teams. I review the rules with the students daily and set a time of when we will play the game (we start small intervals 20 mins, it will increase in time and then be expected to be all times). While the game is taking place the students are expected to follow all the rules of the game. If a student does not follow the rule, that team will receive a tally mark. Each team is allowed to get a maximum of 4 tally marks during the duration of the game. At the end of game time, the team(s) with the least amount of tally marks wins. They will receive a reward. At the end the week the team that has won the most will earn a special privilege. To learn more about The Good Behaviour Game check it out on Youtube.com "Channel 9 Good Behavior Game" or "Pax Good Behaviour Game". This was just in the news recently.

Wow, what a week! We had a great time spreading the love on Tuesday for Valentine's Day. On Wednesday we celebrated 100 Days of School in grade 1 with many different activities. We also enjoyed spending time with the pastors and singing for them on Wednesday afternoon.

We've finished our unit on "long a" words in our phonics and word wall words and are moving on to word with "long i". Look for "long i" words at home and practice saying and spelling them together! In Creation Studies we've begun learning about the people in God's wonderful world who live in the country of Kenya! If you have any resources related to Kenya that you'd like to share with us, please let me know! Next week we'll be back to "normal", after many extra-special days in the past few weeks. Whew!

May you have a fun, restful and safe Family Day long weekend!

Wow we have quite a busy week! Valentine's Day was a lot of fun celebrating Jesus' love for us and each other! The 100 Day posters were terrific! We all loved our100 trail mixes and made wonderful 100 Day hats! We ended the day with cake and the movie 101 Dalmatians!

This week we also took a tour of the villages in the mountains in Mexico and realized how blessed we all are with our modern day conveniences. We picked reeds with Maria to make baskets to sell. We then went on a tour of a very busy city called Guadalajara and enjoyed the open air markets on the sidewalks and delivered newspapers with Jose!

We had a wonderful Valentine's Day this past week. Thank you to Mrs. Rizzuto-Willan for coming in and sharing nut-free cupcakes with the class. Thank you, also, to all of you for sharing and showing love to all of us, including the teachers who were spoiled with chocolates, notes and hugs!

We had an exciting time sneaking up on the Grade 7/8 class this week and surprising them during their math class. As part of "Grade Switch", our Grade 2 class blessed the Grade 7/8 class with a bowl of ice cream and a special card to show them our love for them. In keeping with the theme of the month, Mrs. Panza had organized this special event for the two classes. Our Grade 2 class showed a servant heart!

Thank you to Aidan for sharing his poster and his favourite things this past week. Our Special Person of the week continues the following week, not next week.

Keep up the fundraising for the Bowl-a-thon. We have an extra long weekend to make those calls and requests. Thanks for your hard work!
