Panda Bears

Mating and Cubs:

The giant panda mates with another panda, but leaves after the cubs are born. Mating months are from March-May. During mating cubs produce 1-2 cubs during mating, but also are able to have 3-4 babies also.

 

`Appearance & Size:

The giant panda’s colors are black and colors are black and white including not only it’s fur colors but also their body  parts like their eyes and ears. Their ears, eyes and nose are all black. The rest of the fur is white. The red panda is obviously red, but sometimes they can be brown too. The size of the red panda is very small compared to the size of the giant panda. 

The height of the red panda is about 20-25 inches long and they weigh about 7-13 pounds. The giant panda however, grow up to 4 to 6 feet long, and weigh up to 220-250 pounds.  The giant panda is normally about 4 and a half to 6 feet long!

Habitat

The giant panda has been spotted in mountain ranges which are in the following provinces of central China, Sichuan, Shaanxi, and the province of Gansu.  Before these places they had lived in lowland areas, farming areas, and other development places, but now they have been ordered into the mountains. Today, pandas live in the mountains in the provinces mentioned before and can be spotted in some of the zoo’s possibly.

Diet

Even though the panda bear is classified as a mammal and a carnivore, the panda bear eats an assortment of foods. Bamboo is the #1 food source they eat. Aside from that though they will eat: honey, eggs, fish, yams, shrub leaves, oranges, and bananas.

Red panda

Classification:

The panda bear has been classified to the bear family. Population is quickly going down fast as the giant panda had been  hunted for it’s fur, meat, and body parts. Their population also goes down for their habitat loss.
