Appearances |

The appearance I will describe in this particular box is the ringed seal. The ringed seal was called “The ringed Seal” because of the marks on the skin (the rings). It is the smallest seal out of the seal family. The size of the ringed seal is about a meter. On the fur of the ringed seal the color is grey with white marks that make it the rings. (The picture on the left is a ringed seal pup on a block of ice near the water) More Info on:

The habitat of the ringed seal is in the Arctic Ocean. In fact, all the seals I will be talking about live in the Arctic Ocean. |

The appearance in this box is going to be described for the harp seal. All harp seals have fur when they are born. The color of the fur is mostly white fur. The reason that the baby harp seals survive without there parents is because the whiteness of the fur blends in with the snow and is hard for the prey to spot the seal. More Info: |

In this box I will be explaining the hooded seal. The reason it is called the “The hooded seal” is because the seal have a black large elastic cavity or “hood” that is from the nose to the forehead. When the nose is inflated it forms into a large round shape, that people call now a black rubber ball.

Did you know? - Seals grow up to only 4 meters. - The law is protecting seals from hunters. - Some of the Inuit people who are living in the Arctic have permission or are able to hunt for seals, only a few seals each year - If ice forms on top of a breathing hole the seal chews or gnaws on the surface of the ice so that there can be a breathing hole for the seal to take a breath, if the chewing on the ice takes a long time then they use there heads and bang on the ice to open the breathing hole. |

What they are doing to stop the hunting! There is a law that no one can hunt the seals, they are endangered and may be extinct. These seals can help humans in many ways, but how people use seals is very dangerous and harming to the animals. I think that people should care for animals, because in the bible it says that all animals are created by god and are gods animals. We should treat them on how they would want to be treated. Thank you, and I hope that you make a difference by taking animals that are extinct seriously, and if you would like to help, that would be lovely. Just visit at: Hope you stop the seal hunting!!
