Ontario
Alliance of Christian Schools (OACS)
The
JKCS Society of Mississauga (Oakville) is a member of the Ontario
Alliance of Christian Schools. The basic purpose of the OACS is
to promote and strengthen Christian education in Eastern Canada.
The Alliance has a large variety of general services ranging from
education coordination to consulting assistance in matters relating
to tax issues. The OACS is composed of about 75 member schools
representing a total student population in excess of 10,000 pupils.
The OACS is divided into a number of geographical sections. Section
meetings are composed of one representative from each school society.
Each section elects two representatives to the Board of Directors
of the OACS. In this manner, the OACS has indirect representation
from each school society in the province.
Techno Kids
TechnoKids
Curriculum uses a project-based approach to integrate computing
skills into K-12 education. Projects contain meaningful theme-related
assignments that use Microsoft applications. For example, students
produce book advertisements using PowerPoint, write reports on
endangered species using Word, analyze and graph survey results
in Excel, and organize data on space missions using Access. Projects
enhance skills in subject areas such as language arts, mathematics,
geography, science, social studies, or visual arts.
