First Annual JKCS Pastor's Lunch

This February, about thirty of our students invited their pastor/church leaders to join them for lunch here at John Knox Christian School. We had a very enthusiastic response from pastors, many of whom had not visited our wonderful school before.

As our students represent almost 70 different congregations, seeing over 30 pastors together from the Burlington, Oakville, Mississauga and Toronto areas, was a fantastic visual representation of the ecumenical Christian make-up of our school.

The students did a particularly great job of welcoming pastors/church leaders and thereafter taking them on a scavenger hunt/tour of the school right after they stocked up on some tasty appetizers! Pastors had to strike up a conversation with a student in a class, and if they chose the correct student, they earned a chocolate treat!

After a beautifully prepared and presented lunch of gourmet soups, sandwiches and salads (thank you to our talented parent volunteers), our pastors/leaders enjoyed a musical presentation from our choir. They then heard testimonials from our students: John Brooker, Andrew Dotzlaw, Cael Phillips and Abel Vargis. These four Servant Team members shared with the group about their experiences volunteering with the Servant Team and how it has impacted their faith and lives.

Pastors left with a gourmet chocolate covered candy apple and a smile on their face! Our students were just as happy to have had a delicious lunch and a chance to spend some one-on-one time with their pastor/church leader.

Our lunch was such a success, that we can’t wait to do another one next year! Hopefully, in three years, ALL of our church leaders will have had a chance to visit our wonderful school and enjoy lunch with one of their parishioners.
