Admission Into John Knox Christian School Society Membership
Each parent/guardian wishing to enroll a student in JKCS must first become a member of the John Knox School Community of Oakville. The John Knox School Community is a charitable organization incorporated under the laws of the Province of Ontario to provide an affordable Christ-centered education for the children of Christian parents/guardians. The Community is registered as a corporation, with the purpose to establish, maintain and operate a school for elementary education and the promotion thereof. The corporation is governed by a set of by-laws, which were produced August 1, 1973 and updated in 1994.
As a community of Christian parents, teachers, and supporters, we are committed to involvement in all aspects of the operation of John Knox Christian School. Members are essential to directing the school and are urged to serve on its Board or its Committees. Membership in the School Community is open to all who truly confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, and sincerely agree with the Vision and Mission Statements as well as the Educational Goals listed on this website. Members should be actively involved in church life and display Christian principles concerning lifestyle, marriage and the upbringing of their children.
Membership does have its privileges. Once accepted, your membership entitles you to vote at membership meetings and to serve on the Board or school committees. Membership, however, does not ensure that your child/ren will be able to attend JKCS as there may be circumstances that would preclude your child from admission. These would include the suitability of the programs offered, and the availability of sufficient space at the required grade level.
If you are interested in becoming a member of the School Community, please download and complete a membership application form and return it, along with your annual membership fee of $200, to the school. Families who no longer have children enrolled in the school are encouraged to maintain their membership. The Community is a charitable organization and tax receipts are issued for membership fees. The annual membership fee covers the school year and is payable in the fall by all members.
Enrollment
Once you have applied for, and been accepted into membership in the John Knox Christian School Society, enrollment forms can be completed for your child(ren) provided there is classroom availability. These enrollment forms will be supplied by the school. However, we would kindly ask that you also provide the following information:
- A photocopy of your child(ren)’s birth certificate(s)
- A Photocopy of your child(ren)’s health card(s)
- A photocopy of your child(ren)’s immunization records
- A cheque for $750 as a deposit towards the annual tuition
