Our first JKCS Spirit Day of the year is aligned with a wonderful cause!

World Food Day is the motivation behind our upcoming Spirit Day. We want to build awareness of global food issues.

We will hold a food drive from October 16-20. Food will be collected for Kerr Street Ministries. Please bring your non-perishable donations to the classroom all week.

On Friday, October 20, we will celebrate Spirit Day. Students can dress in the colours of their favourite food, or the official colours of the country in which their favourite food originates. (For example, if your favourite food of all time is the avocado, you can dress in green, or in the colours of the Mexican flag, as many avocados come to us from Mexico.)

Each year, every classroom at JKCS creates a wonderful themed gift basket. These superb gift baskets are a key element of the silent auction at our Annual Celebration Dinner. The proceeds from our silent auction support the JKCS Bursary Program, which ensures Christian education at JKCS is not out of reach financially for families in our community.

Your donations for the classroom gift baskets will be gratefully and cheerfully accepted until Friday, October 20. Here is a complete list of gift basket themes--along with suggested ideas for each. Check it out--not just for basket donations, but to determine which basket(s) you would like to bid on during the Silent Auction!

Caribou Math Logo fullCaribou Math Contest is back for grades 3-8!!

If you want your child to participate in this math enrichment opportunity offered by JKCS, please let your child's teacher know. Games and sample problems are available HERE .

If you have any questions about Caribou Math Contest, contact our parent coordinator, Lea Wilkening, at

A note from the GIFTS Committee...

Our increased membership has increased our need for Reading help, a wonderful problem to have.

We hope that parents who are not a part of the Reading Group might be willing to book a "Special Reading Day" or TWO with their child and their friends! :)

Below, please find links to the various classes which will detail the dates and times of current available reading spots. If you have a little flexibility in your schedule, you can create the most memorable day for your child.

Please remember, to qualify you will need to have a current Police Check on file and have completed the Child Welfare Policy requirements. Police checks are currently taking about five weeks to complete, so you can certainly book something in 2018! Forms and information regarding the Child Welfare Policy are available in the office.

Creating memories and making connections with your child and their friends even in this small way, is an amazing gift for everyone involved.
Many thanks for your consideration.

Boys Soccer

Congratulations to the boys indoor soccer team with their 2nd place finish at the PSAA indoor soccer tournament Oct 11. Well done! This concludes an excellent season. A huge thank you goes out to Mr. Estrela who coached the boys this year!

Cross Country Team

The PSAA cross country team traveled to Heart Lake Conservation Area in Brampton on Monday, Oct. 16 to compete against other private schools in the region. Many of our students did so very, very well - and we are so proud of all of their results. Cross country is very tough. Some divisions had over 100 runners compete. Here are some honourable mentions (placed in the top 10 of their division):

U-11 girls: Danielle - 1st, Nieva 4th, Hannah - 7th
U-12 girls: Ellen - 2nd, Olivia - 9th
U-13 girls: Sheyene - 10th
U-14 girls: Maya - 4th, Ellie - 8th
U-10 boys: Thomas - 4th, Leo - 8th, Caleb - 10th
U-11 boys: George - 7th
U-12 boys: Ryan - 1st, Thomas - 5th
U-12 boys: Ruben - 2nd

The Christian School Invitational (CSI) Meet will take place Friday, October 20, and we look forward to another great day! If you would like to come along for the day, we would love to have you. Please connect with Mrs. Ekron -

Volleyball Teams

Girls and boys volleyball teams have been holding tryouts for grade 7 and 8 students this week, and teams should be up and running regular practices soon.

We are currently running volleyball intramurals for grade 7 and 8 students, and indoor soccer intramurals for grade 3 and 4 students. They take place during first break, when students would otherwise be playing outside.
